My Perfect Personal Wellness Day
Fueling My Mind, Body & Spirit
For those who know me, they know that I have a deep passion and commitment to my personal wellness and inner growth work. Ever since I left corporate America and became an entrepreneur, I have found a deep love for this work and these routines in my days.
I thought I would share with you what my perfect personal wellness day looks like…..with a caveat: a day without spending money! My actual favorite personal wellness day involves a spa, being in a fuzzy bathrobe all day, and delicious healthy food prepared by someone else! That is reserved for special occasions, so let’s talk about what I enjoy on a weekly basis.
My perfect wellness day without spending money starts with fueling my mind, body, and spirit!
- After doing daily chores such as putting away the dishes and helping with the dogs, I start my morning with warm lemon water and making myself a matcha tea.
- Then, I head up to my bedroom sanctuary for my morning routine.
- First, I post on social media – yes, I start my morning wellness with social media as it makes me feel good connecting with my followers and friends in the morning.
- Then, I write in The 5-minute Journal—I make sure to complete this every morning, no matter what! It starts my day off with gratitude, intentions, and goals.
- Next, I spend time writing in another journal. I rotate from writing about my 90-day goals to 3 minutes of free-form writing about gratitude or just writing about things I am thinking about or trying to sort out. I will often write about the emotions of my intentions or the things I am trying to manifest in my life. This spiritual work allows my brain to free-flow with my ideas, which opens my mind up for my meditation.
- Journaling is followed by TM meditation and breathwork. I grab a crystal and sit in silent meditation for about 20 minutes. This used to be very hard, but I have been able to work up to this and really enjoy the calm. Many of my greatest ideas come to me during this time. When my brain can pause, it is incredible what ideas surface!
- Next up is exercise, so after thanking the Universe for the support after my meditation, I head to the basement to my home gym.
- My exercise routine varies from weights to barre class to an elliptical workout to a long walk outside. I try to include 10-15 minutes of jumping on my JumpSport trampoline each day as well.
- After a quick shower, which often includes 3 minutes of ending with a cold shower (read more in my blog about cold showers), my morning routine is complete.
As the day progresses, my personal wellness continues with making time for the following that tie into my commitment to continual learning:
- Practicing the piano – I made the commitment in January to learn something new, and the piano was it! It requires SO much focus to read the music and figure out the notes to play, that it is the best thing I do to stay fully present. I find it very relaxing and calming, and I enjoy the amazing sounds coming from the piano as a result of my hard work.
- Reading – Right now, as part of my October challenge, I am reading a minimum of 10 pages of a self-improvement book every night before I go to sleep. I have never slept better! I often enjoy taking a break during the day to sit in my living room or in my reading nook chair and read for 30 minutes. My perfect personal wellness day would definitely include 30-60 minutes of reading!
As the day winds down, it is time for cooking! I love to cook. A few years ago, I changed my mindset toward dinner. I used to consider it such a chore. I decided to change that and approach it as the time I am giving to myself to fuel my body. It is a way to nourish and continue the care I give my body in so many other ways.
To help make it easier, I meal plan so I have the ingredients to make something healthy and delicious for dinner quickly. I try new recipes often to keep things interesting. I also try to buy only organic foods, avoid processed foods, seed oils, and inflammatory foods, and built a garden a few years ago so that in the summer, I can have a wide variety of fresh vegetables right from my own backyard! This also means I can indulge in one of my other favorites…fresh flowers in the house. I love having yellow flowers throughout the house as that color makes me smile, and I love the beauty of fresh flowers!
As the day winds down, my latest personal wellness interest is taking a bath after dinner. I have never been a bath person but now that my daughter is out of the house and her bathtub is available, I have been giving it a try. I love it! It is a great muscle relaxer in addition to a time to relax, listen to music, or even read while my body soaks in the hot water. Plus, I love the healing properties of the bath salts I have been using from Primally Pure. It is such a simple treat, but one that feels relaxing and luxurious, and it is a time devoted solely to me.
Before going to bed, I have a nightime skincare routine that includes red-light therapy for my face while sitting with my feet on a Himalayan Salt Stone. I follow that with reading 10+ pages in a personal improvement book and after that, my brain and body are ready to sleep! I focus on ending the day with some breath work, and ensuring I get 8 hours of sleep a night.
I don’t want to leave out the incredible importance spending time with family and friends is for my personal wellness. Feeling connected and loved is a gift. I am also content being alone though, which I think is important. It is important to be comfortable being with yourself, listening to your body and appreciating the quiet of not speaking to another person.
I am blessed to have a lifestyle that allows for many, if not all, of these things to be part of my days. These activities fuel my mind, body and spirit and leave me feeling balanced, calm, present and purposeful with my life. I have evolved into this level of personal wellness, so please don’t be intimidated by this list. If you are interested in doing some inner growth work, start small and try one of these until it becomes a routine, and then add on.
