Modern Farmhouse Custom Built-in Reading Bench with Shelving

A Modern Farmhouse: Inviting the Outside In

An executive power couple wanted their home to feel open, inviting, and unique in its use of materials and textures. Huge windows that open into a gorgeous wooded landscape create a sense of inner Zen for this growing young family.

Behind the Design

The custom designed millwork entrance wall is one of my favorite details in this home, but the custom floor pattern and stain colors come in at a close second. Guests are immediately welcomed into a home filled with luxury details, high end materials, and an openness that showcases the beautiful backyard from the front door.

“Every home needs an entrance that makes a statement and this house is no exception.”

The House of JerMar Experience

“We hired Jeanne to design all the construction finishes for a full home renovation project that had us quickly outside our comfort zones. She connected with our vision, how we wanted to feel in our home, and the function we needed. The focal wall entrance with the black and white oak floor design is one of my favorites and a show stopper for everyone who enters the space. We are now living in our dream home.”

Press Highlight

“The laundry room is a great space to go bold with cabinet colors and patterns on tiles, the floor, and walls, so try something outside your comfort zone. Make doing laundry fun!”

Wellness Design Feature

We designed an oversized reading bench under a large window, flanked by custom built-in bookshelves that can store games, books, and sentimental items. This cozy space with a view of nature creates a sense of calm and ease while the homeowners take a moment to pause and read.

Custom Built-Ins

Nothing says luxury design like a custom built-in!

One of my favorite things to design for clients are custom built-ins including custom bars and mudrooms. I love the challenge of taking a space and designing what can perfectly fit inside it to create a one-of-a-kind room.
